UrgoStart More
Description
Innovative and patented dressing, developed by the Urgo Laboratories, composed of two exclusive technologies: the TLC-NOSF matrix and the poly-absorbent fibers.
It is composed of:
-A micro-adherent matrix of TLC-NOSF, formed by lipid-colloidal particles, polymers and an exclusive element; the NOSF (Nano-Oligosaccharide Factor) which reduces the healing time. In addition, poly-absorbent polyacrylate fibers ensure debridement of the lesion (which is cleansed by slough, exudate and bacterial residues).
-A super absorbent layer.
-A vapor permeable water-repellent external film.
This specific combination is covered by patent.
It reduces the healing time and cleanses the lesion from slough, exudate and bacterial residues.
The TLC-NOSF matrix forms a gel when it comes into contact with the lesion, and reduces the healing time by inhibiting the excess metal-protease that cause degradation of the extracellular matrix. In addition, gelling creates a moist environment that promotes the action of key cells involved in the healing process (fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and macrophages).
In contact with the lesion, the poly-absorbent fibers of UrgoStart Plus gel. The dressing absorbs and traps slough, exudate, and bacterial residues present in the lesion bed, for an autolytic debridement. Furthermore, the poly-absorbent fibers make the dressing highly cohesive, allowing an atraumatic reduction, in a single piece and without pain for the patient.
The poly-absorbent fibers and the super absorbent layer of UrgoStart Plus ensure a high capacity for absorption and management of the exudate, preventing maceration. The dressing can be used under a compression bandage, if prescribed. UrgoStart Plus has a very conformable and non-occlusive water-repellent external support, which allows the correct adaptation to the conformation of the lesion. In addition, it serves as a barrier for exogenous bacteria, as well as helping to prevent fluid leakage. Its high vapor permeability properties allow the evaporation of excess exudate, preventing the risk of maceration. The dressing adapts to the different movements of the body, ensuring the comfort of the patient. Due to its transparency, it is possible to monitor the drawing of the liquid, and then carry out the dressing change only when it is necessary.
UrgoStart Plus features multiple properties:
1) Healing properties:
-Reduction of healing time combined with cleansing of all elements present in the lesion (slough, exudate, bacterial residues);
-Absorption of exudate;
-Management of mild bleeding;
-Creation and maintenance of a humid environment that promotes the healing process;
-Atraumatic removal;
-Protection of perilesional skin.
2) Comfort and ease of use:
-Painless removal.
-Very conformable dressing and easy to place thanks to micro-adhesion.
-A water-repellent and vapor-permeable external film.
The efficacy of TLC-NOSF in reducing healing time has been demonstrated in double-blind randomized controlled trials and in an analysis of observational studies.
It is indicated for all stages of exuding lesions (from cleansing to complete healing), including chronic injuries (injuries of the lower limbs, pressure, diabetic foot) and long-term acute injuries.
How to use
Preparation of the lesion:
-Cleanse the lesion according to the local treatment protocol then rinse with saline.
-If an antiseptic has been used before, rinse the lesion thoroughly with a physiological solution before applying UrgoSmart Plus.
-Dry the perilesional skin carefully.
-The use of UrgoSmart Plus does not leave out the need for associated mechanical removal, if necessary.
Application of dressing:
-Remove the protective tabs.
-Apply the micro-adherent layer of UrgoStart Plus directly to the lesion.
-Apply a proper bandage or, if prescribed, a compression bandage.
Replacing the dressing:
-Remove the dressing when it becomes saturated and cleanse the lesion if necessary.
It is recommended to replace UrgoStart Plus every 1 or 2 days during the desloughing phase of the lesion, and later when necessary (up to 7 days) depending on the amount of exudate and the clinical status of the lesion.
Throw out the unused parts of the dressing.
Warnings
-The micro-adherent layer of UrgoStart Plus adheres to latex surgical gloves. It is therefore recommended to use the tabs in order to facilitate their application.
-Since UrgoStart Plus includes a super absorbent layer, the central pad should not be cut.
-In the presence of clinical signs of local infection, it is recommended to carry out antibacterial treatment (such as UrgoClean Ag) before applying UrgoStart Plus.
-In case of atypical lesions with signs of hardening or hypergranulation, treatment with UrgoStart Plus should only be used after verifying the absence of malignancy associated with the lesion, in order not to delay the diagnosis.
-Given the absence of specific clinical analysis for Epidermolysis Bollosa (even in long-term lesions), it is recommended not to use UrgoStart Plus.
-The action of the product in triggering the healing process could cause stinging or painful sensations at the beginning of treatment with UrgoStart plus. This does not lead, usually, to the suspension of treatment.
-During cleansing, it may seem that the lesion enlarges due to the effective removal of devitalized tissue.
-The simultaneous use of creams, ointments and emulsions is not recommended.
-UrgoStart Plus should not be used in hyperbaric chamber.
-- Sterile, single-use-only individual packaging: Reusing a single-use package can pose risks of infection.
-Do not re-sterilize the dressing.
-Before use, make sure that the sterile protective film is intact. Do not use in case of damaged packaging.
-UrgoStart Plus facilitates the management of mild bleeding. Nonetheless, it should not be used as a surgical swab in case of injuries with considerable bleeding.
-To avoid delaying their optimal treatment, UrgoStart Plus is contraindicated in the case of tumor lesions and fistolized with deep abscess.
-Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to UrgoStart Plus.
